Major upgrades have now begun on the Lynn Valley Trail, described by Dave Challen and Gord Pennington at this morning's Norfolk Sunrise meeting.  The total cost of upgrades is expected to be $180,000, with the majority of that going to repair the supporting structure for two bridges between Decou Road and Lynn Valley Road.  Other work to be done includes new gates and resurfacing with crushed stone on most of the trail between Simcoe and Port Dover.

Funding for this project is provided through a grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation and from Norfolk County, as well as from donations from individuals, corporate sponsors, and service clubs. Norfolk County's trail network is widely acknowledged as a draw for tourists and new residents. The Lynn Valley Trail was the first local trail to be established, and have "blazed the trail" for other groups to add to the trail network. Cudos to the Lynn Valley Trail Association and their members for their leadership and ongoing commitment to keep their trail in top condition.
