Youth Exchange Experience; During and After a Year in Hungary
Mar. 16, 2021
It feels like a lifetime ago. It was the summer of 2005, I had just turned 18, freshly graduated from Simcoe Composite School, and was about to embark on one of the most pivotal years of my life—my Rotary Youth Exchange to Kecskemét, Hungary.
The world was my oyster, and little did I know, my life was about to change in a major way! Well, I thought I knew. But the evolution that took place during this year was far beyond what I could have ever imagined.
I'm looking forward to sharing the journey that took place during and after my year abroad, and how this impactful year influenced so many other major life events that got me where I am today! Settling in Toronto, Ontario, becoming a mother, and launching a successful production company.

Crime Stoppers of Haldimand Norfolk
Mar. 23, 2021
Crime Stoppers is a non-profit charitable organization that combines the best efforts of the community, the media and the police in the fight against crime. Each week the media appeals for information about unsolved crimes. A “Crime of the Week” is highlighted in newspaper articles, radio spots and television re-enactments. People are encouraged to call Crime Stoppers anonymously to report any information that may help solve this or any other crime. A group of dedicated, concerned citizens make up the civilian Board of Directors for Crime Stoppers of Haldimand & Norfolk and is the foundation behind the program. Board members raise, control and administer funds; organize reward payments to callers and promote the program. For more information on becoming a board member, contact Crime Stoppers. |

Rotary Honouring Indigenous Peoples (HIP) Initiatives
Mar. 30, 2021
Honouring Indigenous People was created by Rotarians in Southern Ontario in partnership and consultation with a number of indigenous people. We are honouring indigenous people by supporting their educational efforts and encouraging all Canadians to be aware of indigenous issues, history and culture. Presentation: Honouring Indigenous People: Understanding the past to move forward together For at least 16,000 years Indigenous people have lived on the North American continent. When colonizers came from Europe, Indigenous people worked with them to share their knowledge of how to survive in harmony with creation. There were many misunderstandings between the peoples and trust was lost. Honouring Indigenous People (HIP) is working to build awareness and healthy relationships. Jim and Marjorie have been working with three communities- Six Nations, Mississaugas of Credit and Pikangikum First Nation ( a fly-in community in Northern Ontario) They have utilized a District Grant with the Mississaugas of Credit to enhance the outdoor education program at LS King School and are learning the Anishinaabemowin (Ojibwe) language. They have worked with the school and others in Pikangikum on many projects over 8 years to help build their outdoor education program and provide instruments for the music programs and prizes for their annual Battle of the Bands competition. Pictured at Pikangikum EBS school with Evacuation commander Jonathan Gregg and then Chief Amanda Sainnawapduring the fire evacuation of the reserve.

Lighthouse Theatre Clock
Jun. 01, 2021 7:00 a.m.
Time's no longer standing still in Port Dover thanks to Mohawk professor Richard Dupp. Richard, a Port Dover resident, volunteered to successfully repair the town's iconic clock that's been at the corner of Main and Market Streets for more than 100 years. Richard says there's still some refurbishing to be done and Mohawk students will be lending a hand during the Fall semester. Read about Richard's handiwork in the Port Dover Maple Leaf. |
