Medical Assistance in Dying (MAID)

Dodie Trimble is the Director of Quality and Clinical Practise and Medical Device Reprocessing at Norfolk General Hospital. Dodie has held many titles at NGH including the Director of 3B (Medical/Surgical/Maternal) and has many years of nursing experience. Dodie has assisted patients and families navigate the process of medical assistance in dying (MAID) for those who inquire at NGH.

Joanne Kiefer's father chose medical assistance in dying almost two years ago and was able to die at home with his family around him. Joanne will share what she learned through this process, including both the patient and the family perspective. It was a pioneering journey with the MAID legislation relatively new at that time and many working in the process feeling their way along.
