Club members gathered together on Sunday afternoon, 28 March, to carry-out a socially-distant drive-past Cathy Harrop's home in Simcoe.
Little did she know that the purpose of this drive-past was to surprise her as our most recent inductee to the Paul Harris Fellowship!
Performing the honour on behalf of the Club was Peter Wheatley who added a generous expression of lightness and humour to the moment. These remarks may be read by clicking on the 'Read more ...' tab just below.
Well done, Cathy - you are a fundraiser extraordinaire and true leader in our Club - this is a a PHF so very well deserved.
Cathy joined our Rotary Club many years ago.  She accepted the role of Club President in 2011and resolved to make us better.  Then she dismembered herself and went on a hiatus for a few years.  She remembered herself to our club with renewed energy serving on many committees but her love is fundraising and making money in very efficient ways.
Cathy has strong opinions  and willingly shares them.  Many of her views differ vastly from mine.  That is why I and many others value her truths  but mainly her friendship which is her real strength.
This year her activities are an organizer for  BITE OF NORFOLK,  our  Alex Trebec host for our Trivia night and emailer extraordinaire for the BID2Buy auction fundraiser.
Cathy is a member who creates cohesion in our club among members and with our larger community.
I must warn you now, Cathy. Your AWARD FREE DAYS in Rotary are over.
So Cathy please accept this Paul Harris fFellowship from all your friends in the Rotary Club of Norfolk Sunrise as a small symbol of our love and respect for you and your contributions.
Peter Wheatley
