Joanne Kiefer, Community Service Chair of the Rotary Club of Norfolk Sunrise recently had the privilege of meeting Ontario Community Changemaker, Jen Gadoua with the Handcycling Club of Canada. Jen is an adaptive bike rider/instructor. The Club is hosting their 2nd Adaptive Mountain Biking Camp at Long Point Eco Adventure the weekend of May 8-10. The Camp will host around 16 riders including beginners, intermediate and advanced riders. Many volunteers also help to make this event successful. Several adaptive bikes are made available to those without their own. While meeting with Jen, Joanne had the opportunity to try out one of the bikes. Being a bike enthusiast herself she was quick to understand how much this sport has to offer. Until recently Adaptive Mountain Bike riders have been travelling to get coaching and riding practise in AB and BC where the sport is more established. This Camp/Project seeks to create an adaptive mountain biking retreat for riders in ON. The Rotary Club of Norfolk Sunrise is pleased to sponsor one of the lunches over the weekend.
