Jack Amico delivered a very warm and encouraging message to Norfolk Sunrise Rotarians this week. As the current Governor for District 7090, Jack will soon have visited all 70 clubs in his District. Although we are all Rotarians, Jack noted that each club is different from others.

Jack’s primary message was a reflection of the Rotary International theme for this year – “Light up Rotary.”  And although he understands that Rotarians normally choose not to boast, Jack encouraged us to “brag about Rotary” this year, to get our story out about how much good we do in the world and how much fun we have doing it.

Jack also encouraged Norfolk Sunrise Rotarians to attend the “Buffalo Bash” on October 25 & 26 at the Buffalo Niagara Convention Centre.  He promised there would be a party on Saturday night, but the feature attraction for this annual convention will be the motivational speakers.  Joe Roberts, philanthropist and author of From Skid Row to CEO, delivers a powerful message of hope and inspiration for [us] young people.  Josh Covey is another highly acclaimed speaker who will have a definite message for Rotarians.

Jim Dawson also announced that Norfolk Sunrise recently received approval from Rotary International to receive a grant in order to proceed with the Udhampur Preventable Avoidable Blindness Program, a $56,800 project which will be conducted in conjunction with Operation Eyesight.
