Dave Douglas, Anton Jopko, Adam Jopko
On Tuesday morning, 07 Oct '25, we welcomed Anton Jopko (in the company of his son Adam) as our guest speaker to our hybrid (ie live attendance at R83 with zoom remote attendance) session. Anton was introduced to us by Dave Douglas.
Anton made some brief introductory remarks concerning the five waves of Ukrainians who have come to Canada over the years and then went into more detail concerning the growth of that community in Waterford. Along his family timeline, he reflected on the nature of the community as well as his family connections to the Ukrainian Catholic Church and its connected Hall. All of this was a well-told revealing of a very interesting part of our community. A Facebook site concerning the church in question is at this link. A couple of photos from this morning's presentation are at the 'Read more ...' tab.

Co-Pres Mary Mercato concluded the question period by thanking Anton for the great presentation.  He was then presented with an expression of our thanks by noting that we had, in his name, restored the sight of a 69-yr-old woman from Ghana as part of of our Operation Eyesight support.
