On Tuesday morning, 16 September 2025, we welcomed District Governor Aaron Carlson (home club is the Rotary Club of Lockport, N.Y.) as our special guest, to our hybrid (ie live attendance at R83 with zoom remote attendance) session. DG Aaron was introduced by Assistant Governor (AG) Ken Tota (visiting from the Rotary Club of Brantford Sunrise).
DG Aaron made certain introductory remarks concerning the current year theme of membership and then walked us though a two-way conversation about how our own Club was taking on the four challenges set out in the RI Action Plan - Increase Our Impact, Expand Our Reach, Enhance Participant Engagement and Increase Our Ability to Adapt. This resulted in a very useful revealing of new and interesting ideas.
As a part of his visit to us, DG Aaron enjoyed an evening of social fellowship with Club members the night before and then retired to join in with our RCNS monthly Board meeting after the plenary. Co-Presidents Mary Mercato & Ross Gowan concluded a full question period by thanking DG Aaron for the great presentation; for talking with us instead of to us. DG Aaron was then presented with an expression of our thanks by noting that we had, in his name, restored the sight a 74-yr-old Zambian woman as part of of our Operation Eyesight support.
