An evening to remember at the Lynwood Art Centre ...
Surrounded by the talent of local artist Bruce Steinhoff, we celebrated our 27th birthday in style - chartered on 16 May 1996 and still going strong.
To mark the occasion, it was decided to focus on our own; in particular long-serving members as well as those making such a difference as they continue to offer 'Service before Self'.
Following a brief introduction to the evening's events, Gail Catherwood entertained us with several 'mini-wheat' presentations.
Assistant Governor Keith Jones recognized Lionel Ulrich, Rudi Atkinson and John Wallace for their continuing generosity to the Rotary Foundation, as did District Governor Lisa Bishop in respect of Keith Jones' own support.  Jim Simpson presented a Paul Harris award to our own Joanne Kiefer. See the two separate, companion stories for details about these Paul Harris awards.
President Louise recognized Charter Members Peter Wheatley, Jim Peters and John Wallace for their long-term and continuing service.
With the member recognition concluded, Pres Louise stepped up to present a donation to Kim Shippey representing the Lynnwood Arts Centre; funds sufficient to help send 20 children to art camp this summer.
After all of that, it was time to eat, so Lynn Cornfield did the honours, cut the birthday cake and served up a small feast of celebration.
Addition information about the event as well as a collection of photos from the evening may be found at the 'Read more ..' tab below.
A more complete collection of photos may be found at our Club Runner site - click here.
Happy Birthday RCNS.

Recognizing Lynnwood Art Centre
With local, resident artist Bruce Steinhoff's work all about us, President Louise made a donation to the Lynnwood Arts Centre Executive Director (and past RCNS Club member) Kim Shippey. The RCNS funding support will help to send 20 children to camp this summer - it will allow them to explore their creativity and express their emotions through art.  RCNS will benefit from Lynnwood's marketing and brand awareness campaigns showcasing our support. Kim responded with a sincere message of gratitude and an overview of the current Lynnwood progress and programs. What a great facility to have in our County.

Cake Cutting
Next Incoming-President George Cornfield was asked to cut the birthday cake. With great style, he deferred to his wife Lynn for the official duties.
