On Tuesday morning, Dave Douglas from our club (yes Dave - 'Who Knew?!"), welcomed Carolyn Hyslop, CEO of the Canadian Canoe Museum located in Peterborough Ontario. Carolyn has been with the museum since 2002 in roles including Education Co-ordinator, Public Programs Manager, Interim General Manager, and Director of Operations. She is devoted to outdoor education, and has active memberships with the Ontario College of Teachers and the Ontario Recreational Canoeing and Kayaking Association (instructor level). Carolyn gave us an outstanding presentation covering the beginnings of the venture, the aims and current status of the museum as well as the projections for a future site of the facility; all the while highlighting their ongoing collaborations and connection to people, native culture & story-telling themes.
