The annual Coats for Kids & Adults event was held on October 29 at First Baptist Church with resounding success. Our community partner, Peerless Cleaners cleaned and washed over 1200 coats. Another partner, the Langton Knitters group donated 200 pairs of mittens and hats. Over 500 various items of warm winter wear were chosen by many visitors. The remainder of the coats and mittens were then bagged and distributed through several churches and thrift shops, the Salvation Army, the Pregnancy Centre and the Women’s Shelter.
Norfolk County residents will be a little bit warmer this winter, thanks to the generosity of citizens who donated coats. The RCNS wants to express our sincere thanks and appreciation to the Rotarians, family and friends who helped with unloading the trucks, setting up on Friday, welcoming and assisting guests on Saturday and distributing the overflow to the various centres this week. This event could not happen without you.The RCNS also needs to highlight the equivalence of the monetary donation that Peerless Cleaners has made over the past few years. We are so thankful for their support.
