One of the three ways that a Paul Harris Fellowship may be awarded is for the parent club to use its Foundation contribution points to nominate a particular member of its own club or the community at large.
At our 02 May 2023, Birthday Party at the Lynnwood Art Centre, Chair of the PI Cttee, Jim Simpson announced that Joanne Kiefer was to be recognized as a PHF for her ongoing and selfless contributions to our Club and the general community. In the presentation to Joanne, she was described as one of our strongest members, quietly serving in leadership roles, project/fundraising initiatives, membership concerns and public speaking roles/duties. Over the years, Joanne has capably lead several of our club committees (Club Services (18/19), Ways & Means (14/15) & Membership (10/11)) but her strong suit was said to be taking on community work that just needs to be done. Joanne has taken over and improved upon our Salvation Army festive-season collection programs. She has initiated the work that needed to be done to re-kit our new or older club members with new Rotary clothing. Joanne led the charge in our ‘Action’ series by organizing our collection and re-distribution of hygiene products for those in need.  She has been a continuing & dedicated author of our ecards for club members in need.  As a very active member of the PI Cttee Joanne has learned how to deal with the Print & Radio media and has had a very positive effect on getting great exposure for us. Being active in the local community also means that Joanne is an enthusiastic supporter and volunteer in the local ‘Strong Start’ program designed to help children age 5-7 years who are struggling with reading skills.
Clearly, Joanne exemplifies 'service above self'.
Well done, Joanne - BZ. As a Club, we are all thankful for what you do to support the RCNS and are very proud of what you bring to our community presence.
