Very recently, we lost an outstanding member of our Norfolk community and a truly amazing Rotarian - Don Emerson. By going to the 'Read more ...' below, you can read a short note related to Don's contribution to, and work with our Club. Don's Obituary may be read by Clicking Here.

At 2:00pm on Sunday, 16 May, the RCNS will host an on-line, Zoom tribute for Don and his family. We encourage open attendance by those who feel connected to Don and his family. Everyone is welcome. If you are not a member of the Club, and would like to be sent the Zoom link or would like to speak at this session, please contact our event coordinator at your earliest opportunity (Gail Bouw) at this email link. If you are a member of the Club, you need only advise Gail at this email link if you wish to make a few remarks.

Rest In Peace - you made a difference, Don.
Don, a member of our Club since 2002, lived a life that was the definition of 'Service before Self' and we will truly miss him - our hearts go out to Gwen and the Emerson family. At our Tuesday morning meeting on 20 April, John Wallace led us in a moment of group reflection followed by personal memories by several of our members. Soon there will be more information forthcoming concerning an on-line event to express our memories of, and a celebration of Don's Rotary life.
Don Howard George Emerson
Our club was shocked to learn of the death of Don on Tuesday.  His involvement in the community was substantial in many areas.
His work in Rotary was also dynamic and productive.  Members have reflected on Don and Gwyn and their work with us.  He was a traveler and that love worked well with Rotary needs. There are several projects that this club has supported that Don has been very involved with. Over the years he made repeated trips to Mexico to the Nogales charitable work supported by RCNS with shoeboxes initially and then many joint Rotary projects providing aid and support.  Then to Togo in Africa for National Immunization Days, two trips to India to visit RCNS joint Operation Eyesight projects, to China to do volunteer teaching, to Wales as leader of youth exchange team, and later, a friendship exchange.
More locally the RCNS has supported the Simcoe Caring Cupboard of which Don has been on the executive for well over 25 years. He has keenly supported numerous club projects.
His loss will be deeply felt by Rotary family and friends.
