Recently, the Club made a financial donation to the Norfolk Community Help Centre (NCHC); this a further gesture of support to those previously offered over many years. In this case, a portion of our Catch the Ace revenues was approved to be used as the NCHC develops additional support space required for their programs.
Additional information about the NCHC may be found by going to the "Read more ..." tab. The NCHC website may be accessed by clicking on this Link".

The Norfolk Community Help Centre (NCHC) was established in July 1991, recognizing a real need in assisting the under-serviced areas of health and settlement.  In 1997, the Mennonite Help Centre was incorporated and changed the name to the Norfolk Community Help Centre to expand the services to meet the needs of anyone in the community.  The Centre provides services in areas of employment, settlement, referrals to agencies, advocacy, family supports, and translation support.  The Family Support Worker provides translation assistance with the clients at pre and post-natal appointments.  Expectant moms are enrolled in the Be Healthy Baby program through Sobey’s and receive free pre-natal vitamins.  The Centre provides assistance for applying for federal and provincial programs such as Canada Pension, Employment Insurance, passports, Ontario Health Insurance Plan, and Healthy Smiles Dental Program.  Staff also assist people in searching for jobs and creating resumes..  Nancy Hilderbrand, Executive Director said “we are so excited to expand these employment services with our new partnership with Fanshawe College.”
Every Wednesday from 11 am – 7 pm Fanshawe College will be providing services to rural Norfolk County residents out of the office located at 505 Fairground Road in Langton, attached to Houghton Public School.  Participants can received free help with preparing for post-secondary education or training, resume creation, job search, interview skills, career exploration, and more.  Ms. Hilderbrand further noted the financial contribution f rom the Rotary Club of Norfolk Sunrise will be establish the room for the proposed expansion, “we are so thankful for Norfolk Sunrise for giving back to the community.”
” The NCHC is expanding the programming at the Centre in two ways:
- Community Engagement: to engage local Mennonite families who have taken their children out of the public school system and to encourage and engage  the families in meaningful conversation, to break down barriers they face to support children in returning to public education.
- Adult Upgrading & Employment Service: the Centre will provide the community with employment service, such as resume writing, job interviewing practice, skills upgrading, employment searches, and career path options.
