On Tuesday morning, 03 Dec 2024, and on our collective behalves, David Douglas welcomed and introduced Pipe-Major Ian MacFadden, Pipe-Sergeant Murray McKnight and James & Colin as our special guest representatives of the North Shore Highlanders.  At our hybrid (ie live attendance at R83 with zoom remote attendance) session, the group offered us a very entertaining presentation of highland music, whilst Ian and Murray spoke of the band - the North Shore Highlanders; a new pipe band that has emerged from Norfolk County and is quickly gaining influence out of their Port Dover setting with the Port Dover Legion's support. Along the way, they noted their aims related to community support and youth development; highlighting the fact that they are currently focused on fundraising so as to make membership that much more appealing. A special remark was offered concerning their hosting of a Robbie Burns dinner this coming 25 January 2025 at the Port Dover Community Centre.
Additional photos from the morning are given at the 'Read more ..' tab. More information about the NorthShore Highlanders may be found by clicking here.
Scott Williams (with his own family connection to the band - yeah Marny!) offered our gratitude for providing such an entertaining way to start the morning. In appreciation for the highland presentation, we have donated to Operation Eyesight sufficient funds to restore the eyesight of a deserving candidate in India.
