On Tuesday morning, 24 Feb ‘26, Bettyann Carty welcomed Justin DeWaard, (in the company of Kate Brush & Shelbie Vosburgh) as our Guest Speaker(s) - Justin is the Regional Director for Norfolk/Oxford whilst Kate is the Manager of Indwell’s Simcoe facilities (Hambleton Hall, Dogwood). At our hybrid session, they provided us with a most informative update on Indwell - its values, mission, background, challenges and solutions. Along with the use of video information, they discussed their approach to ‘wrapping their arms’ around the full needs of their residents as well as the detail behind supporting the 51 residents in Dogwood and the 40 in Hambleton Hall.
Website information describing Indwell is at this link. A short bio for Justin may be found at the 'Read more ...' tab.
It was a great insight into the home-insecurity issue within Norfolk County. Many, many questions followed; all well-answered by Justin and Kate. In the end, Co-President Mary Mercato offered appreciative remarks in thanking them for their effective work in our community; highlighting the dignity and respect that Indwell communicates to those they support . They were then presented with an expression of our thanks by noting that we had, in their names, restored the sight of a 73-year-old old Zambian woman as part of of our Operation Eyesight support.

Justin serves with Indwell as the Regional Director for Norfolk and Oxford, where he champions the organization’s vision of Hope and Homes for All. He is deeply committed to seeing that vision lived out through Indwell’s core values of dignity, love, and hope. Justin is also guiding Indwell’s expansion into the Brantford–Brant community. He and his wife, Rachel, live with their four children on a small hobby farm, where they raise animals and grow food to share with others. Beyond his work with Indwell, Justin is active in his church, leading worship and serving their local community.
