At our April 30 meeting, Shirley Shaw spoke to us about Special Olympics. She has volunteered with the organization for 20 years, starting by coaching the Simcoe Seals swim team. Shirley is currently the Special Olympics Community Coordinator for Simcoe, encouraging all types of sport participation for Special Olympians. She is recruiting coaches for all sports. Please contact her if you are interested. She proudly announced that 13 local swimmers will be competing in the Special Olympics Provincial Swim Competition in Kitchener-Waterloo May 23-27.
Shirley is a Paul Harris Fellow and won the Catch the Ace prize last October.
Shirley brought several of the swimmers who will be competing in the Provincials to the meeting. Pictured are Shirley with Chelsea, Amanda, Korissa, and coach Kim, as well as RCNS President John Wallace..
