At our morning meeting of 30 September, the Club was given an overview of, and an update in respect of, the Rotary International End Polio Now campaign. Inasmuch as October is Rotary Polio Awareness month, we were pleased that our Foundation Coordinator Wolf Lindemann could provide such a comprehensive breifing. 'Rotary is the first organization to envision a Polio free World through mass immunization of children. When Rotary formed Polio Plus in 1985, Polio paralyzed 1,000+ children every day in 125 Polio endemic countries, because the Vaccine works there are now only 2 countries Wild Polio endemic. Rotarians must be aware of and support the eradication efforts, because as Rotarians we made a promise to the children of the World that every child deserves to live in a Polio free World. The RCNS is holding a Polio flag raising ceremony Monday October 27th at City Hall in Simcoe to help create Polio awareness in our Community, so please come out and show your support in the Polio Plus Eradication efforts.'
